Writer Guidelines:
OfficeOurs is the official magazine of the Association of Professional
Office Managers. Articles appearing in OfficeOurs address the wide range of
challenges and concerns faced by office managers across all industries. Each issue of the magazine has a theme, such as moving an
office, buying technology, training staff or hiring temporary employees.
Articles
Members, vendors and
free-lance writers may submit articles for consideration and unsolicited submissions are welcome (contact our Editor).
Such articles may or may not be published. No monetary compensation will
be provided for unsolicited articles and the additional exposure for the
writer from the articles publication in OfficeOurs will be considered
adequate and full compensation.
Articles should provide a brief background on the subject, how the
subject is relevant to office management, provide step-by-step lists
that readers can use to take actions suggested in the article, and
provide links to other websites with useful information. Articles
should not be sales pitches or promote a particular company.
For assigned stories, deadlines range from two to ten weeks from assignment
date. Detailed story angles are provided. Writers are expected to
generate their own sources. Monetary compensation, if provided, is based on story
length, writer’s experience, complexity and number of sources contacted
and is agreed to in advance.
Compensation for articles ranges from $0 to $500, with payment upon
publication. There is no kill fee.
Articles range from 250 to 1,500 words.
